HBF Church Polity

Hamilton Bible Fellowship is led by a Board including vocational and lay leaders. The former (the pastor) is employed with the primary responsibilities of teaching, preaching, and discipleship. Along with the pastor the latter (elders) exemplify the maturity inherent in that term, and the care giving and managerial aspects implied in the terms “shepherd” and “overseer.” The elders are chosen from among the congregation and serve four to seven year terms. Together the Board functions as a leadership team, making decisions by consensus (unanimous consent). HBF is governed by the Articles contained in its By-Laws, which are available to all for examination.

The leadership team is charged with the responsibility of encouraging Christians toward maturity, and of building bridges of communication and outreach to the non-Christian and nominally Christian community. This is done in close relationship with the people of the Fellowship, through worship, teaching and applying the scriptures, mutual ministry and outreach.
