2007 was a good year for all things HBF. As promised last Sunday, here is a review of some highlights:

JANUARY      First meeting of Sunday Tunes at the building
                   First “People Swap” Sunday at the building
FEBRUARY    Augusta Presbyterian Coffeehouse with CCF Worship Team
                   Dinner and Discussion
MARCH         Foyer tiled (one week)
                   “No, No, Nanette” - Terry & Candy Hayes’ last play
APRIL           Sunday potluck lunch; brainstorming possible ministries
                   First Good Friday Service & Dinner at the building
                   First Annual Business Meeting at the building
                   David Dudrick lunch discussion : “Can Faith Survive Reason?”
MAY             Back hallway tiled (one week)
                   Jordan graduates from University of Richmond
                   Joe Evans returns for Colgate graduation (MAT)
JUNE            Another Schindler graduation (and party!), this year shared with Hayes family
                   Spring Picnic at Hodges
JULY             Evening VBS at First Baptist
                    Church Bulletin Night at Syracuse Chiefs (with several tall teenagers)
                    Phillies’ 10,000th loss - we see them win in person a couple of weeks later
                    Another Colgate salvage furniture acquisition - tables and chairs for classrooms/lobby
                    Worship Room papered/painted
AUGUST        Lois Lee Clark funeral
                    Howell Twins Baptism/Dedication in Binghamton
                    Stanley Cup (with Andy MacDonald) visit to Hamilton
                    Cupola built and installed; building exterior completed (with free lift!)
SEPTEMBER   Classroom carpet installed (result of Colgate donation of material)
                     Rich Mullins Commemorative Concert at the building
                     Keslie begins participating with worship music team
                     Phillies clinch NL East; Jordan and Terry call Putter to congratulate
OCTOBER       HBF Open House (7th); Dedication (20th)
                     Putter & Michael help Denes House celebrate “ethnization” of church in Rochester
                     Pavers installed at both entrances
NOVEMBER     “Folk Psalms” from summer sermon series performed on WRCU, Sunday afternoon
                     Ralph & Tara Leo (and extended family ) at HBF and CCF
                     Rob Charest does Sunday Worship Service after Thanksgiving
DECEMBER     Colgate Chamber Players at building
                     HBF Christmas Play “He Sent an Angel” - with Suzuki Players at Saturday performance
                     First HBF Christmas Dinner at the building
                     First HBF Christmas Eve Service at the building
                     Cupola panels installed (last available good weather day)

Well, some of these  go beyond HBF - but they surely added to the eventfulness! We don’t know what 2008 will be like, but let’s pray that God enables us to rise to the challenges the year ahead will certainly bring.

NEWS, PRAYER CONCERNS, COMING EVENTS:

Pray for the Andrews in North Carolina, the Henke-Hsu family as they depart for China, Colleen Schindler in South Africa for the month and Whitney Randolph in England for the semester.

Pray for: critical medical concerns for Bruce Goodwin, Susan Nolen’s father; for Florence Davis’ (Gaye Andrews’ mother) ongoing recovery; for John Hubbard.

Pray for the Cox situation as it plays out over the next few months; for Rob & Mary Charest to be able to move here permanently; for the Buttons’ possible new job situation.

Sunday Jan. 20th is the annual “People Swap” (technically, Church Unity) Sunday. Watch for sign ups the next couple of weeks, as we will visit other churches and welcome folks to HBF that day.
